We ended up being way more than we thought but it was love and fun all the way !
We tried to do things we weren't used to and had lots of problem but we're pretty happy about the result in the end
Thanks to the Alakajam organisators, you guys did an awesome jobs and well played to everyone, I'm excited to play all your games, they seem really cool !
And a special thank to Thomas Lean who did the sound design and Othilie Berger who did the highpoly 3d models even though they weren't even supposed to participate
Can't say it's the best thing I've ever made, but I don't think it's bad for 8 hours work.
It was fun, and it was nice to finish something for once - even if it's something small.
Hope you enjoy!
I thought I could use this Jam as an opportunity to learn Unity, after spending 5 hours just getting animations to work properly I knew I made a horrible mistake.
The game we had envisioned was much longer, and involved a connected world where you could interact with characters and solve puzzles. I got so bogged down in trying to hammer out details of Unity and get physics working well that we didn't quite make it.
Milo's art made this incredibly fun to work with, and difficulty aside, I think it turned out pretty well and learned a bunch about unity.
Hey buddies!
My entry is playable on Itch.io!
In my last jams, I usually manage well my time, but this, after a looong time without game jam, I completely mess my timing (too much time on doing my own library (but at least, they'll be done for the next time!), on the game physics and viewport, etc…).
Anyway, no more excuses, I'll do (much) better the next time!
Pepelis are ready to meet you! Please treat them gently, they are soft.

We had a little trouble with the theme, check the first comment for more info ;)
So, as of this morning, the game was taking shape. I forgot to save the project, a power outage happened, and I lost all progress made since 6am. It was bad enough, that there was no way we could finish in time for ranked. It would have been ready in time, had this not happened. We're going to try for unranked, but, well, there are no words. I'm never forgetting to save again after this…T_T
You can now play to our game "Neon Hijack" on this link: https://alakajam.com/2nd-alakajam/147/neon-hijack/
This game is the result of two intense days of hard working, and couldn't be posible if it wasn't for the work of @akame, @yurichan, @fabulousdesu, @zroz and myself (@rubn).
We are a team of college students who love participating in game jams as a way of learning gamemaking, and in the process, have fun.
We hope that all of you have enjoyed as much as we have, and we are willing to see and rate the thing that you have made. Thank you for reading!
Okay, we are kinda finished, we don't have enough time to balance all stats, but we managed to have a good time creating it, so, enjoy?
This is my first jam in a long, long time and it's been such a blast! Over the years, I've mostly been doing random volunteer work as a jam organizer or general-helper-outer, so this was a very welcome change of pace.
Together with @treslapin on art and @cloakedninjas on code, we made Disappainted: Master of the Invisibrush. Be sure to check out the game!
This time around, my main contribution was a indeed song I made for our game, which is now up on Soundcloud for free download, here. It's inspired by the anime Yuri On Ice, and Scottish band Mogwai.
With the full version completed, I ended up taking chunks of the song to use around the game; a bit for the main menu, another for in-game, and a third for the results screen. The full version of the song builds up to a massive climax, which was a bit much for the game, so be sure to check out the Soundcloud version too! :3
Besides the one play button sound effect lifted from the soundtrack, I sourced lots of little sounds from freesound.org to make some basic SFX for the game.
Making Disappainted: Master of the Invisibrush was super rewarding. Beyond just being fun, it was an opportunity to learn to use Ableton Live and the Push 2, both of which are new to me. I also followed a really helpful tutorial to do my first proper (proper = "any kind of" in this instance) Mastering for the music.
Let me know what you think of our game and the music! Can't wait to do this again!
Munch Uprising is mine and @horizontale's entry for the 2nd Alakajam! The game features a nice soundtrack composed over the weekend by horiziontale, incluing a title theme and two separate level tracks that change based on the world you're in! I wasn't able to put in as much as I wanted to, but as this was both of our's first game jam, I'm pretty happy with what we came up with!
