Despeat the fact that we start the jam late, I'm really pleased of what we achieved so far.
The basics system seems good, but we still need lots of polishing and difficulty adjustment.
So, after a lot of time spent on art in Pyxel Edit, and cribbing a starfield effect from a previous Ludum Dare game, I finally have something that looks kinda pretty:
now i'm trying to add acids and compounds, i opened my chemistry book and also found site with all acids list, looks like i'm just a big nerd who likes chemistry )
i still don't know how to upload images, i tried to upload them to imgur, but it just doesn't work
Right - we are way over halfway and while the game IS coming along, this is usually the point where I start questioning my life choices, or atleast the scope of the game.
This time I've really really (honest) tried to go for a smaller game, but there's always the temptation to add stuff - even before the core gameplay and art has been done. I'm trying not to do this. The excellent news is that my team-member from my crowdforge post has come through and already sent an excellent and extremely fitting song for the game!
Meanwhile I've been trying to produce some art, it's hard, but it's coming along, slowly. There's still lots more to do, and animations, ideally - oh dear, animations are time sinks, aren't they?
Speaking of art, I expect there will be a lot of cauldrons in the games we make for the first alakajam. I've made one, and I even animated it:
Good luck tomorrow everyone!
Damn, I usually post regular updates :(.
Day one ended pretty well : the core gameplay is here, game management too. I focused on getting everything done at the end of the first day (albeit some tweaks here and there) and I think I'll finish in time (wich is a first one for me, never made it to the 48h mark).
It's going to be a puzzle/link game based on those strange alchemy circles and symbols with a bit of physics/collisions.
As of now I started working on the design and made some music (wich is a first one too). I still need to finish the design, make some levels and polish all this.
But first, I'll get some rest.
Good luck everyone, I can't wait to play those juicy game you're making !
