An obviously true story about how a Yeti wants to destroy a 5G tower by throwing it over the edge of the Earth
A story about a Yeti wanting to destroy a 5G tower by throwing it over the edge of the Earth. His path will lead him through the dangerous Area 51 full of UFO's. Oh and also, there is a hidden level where you can kill Hitler. Based on a true story. Who needs proof, just play the game!
***Since people are missing it, from the starting level with the igloo, drop down the pit to start the Story Mode, the main mode for this game. The highscore mode isn't intended to be a part of the main game
The game was created in 72 hours for ScoreSpace x Alakajam game jam.
The theme was "Connections", which I exploited within the 5G connection dangers myths and conspiracy theories connections.
Important note for the jam: the sounds weren't created during the jam, but were taken from outside library, zapsplat.com. The ratings for the audio were disabled to allow true audio creators to be valued more, and the music was removed to follow the game jam rules and allow ratings in other categories.

I finished the story mode. I also missed it at first and spend quite a long time on the score mode :)
The game is fun and the score mode is addictive but these snowflakes starting without speed from the top of the screen really looks like… someone is actually dropping snow on us ?? Well another conspiracy to investigate !
@Mills_Himself: thank you for trying my game and for your nice feedback!
@benjamin I think i'll add some pointers to where you can and can't go after the jam ends, thank you! Also, I was thinking about expanding the game a little after the jam and you gave me a great idea of adding a level where you can find someone throwing the snow from above the ceiling! :D (actually, my first experience with particle systems here, that's why it's a bit ugly, haha). Thanks for commenting and taking your time to play!
@mit-mit Thanks for your feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
@Baconinvader Thanks, I also think conspiracy theories is a botomless ocean of ideas to use! :D And you are absolutely right to find the high score mode annoying, it was rather a small feature I added last minute to still partake in the theme of the jam, but I spent most time working on the story mode, so it's supposed to be the main mode.
@MrAmericanMike , thank you for your feedback! The highscore mode was added as a rather last minute feature, just to be a part of the jam requirements. You're right, it sucks to be a full arcade, high-score feature mode. Thank you for your time and your honest feedback!
@BPM , thanks, mate! I do get a lot of negative feedback about the highscore mode and I understand how it can be frustrating, I should work on improving it. I'm glad you enjoyed the rest of the game though! Thank you!
It simultaneously makes a lot of sense, and no sense at all, and I love it. Very well done! A good buildup of levels, good tutorial hints, no annoying grinding upon restarts, tight controls; just a very complete if small game. You even found time to include a secret level, and include just enough clues to discover it. Great work!
@pyxelrfcp Thanks for playing! I am really glad people are enjoying my story! I added the highscore mode just to fit in the jam a bit more, but there are way better entries for the streamers competition, I don't even aim to end up there :D
Awesome, it even has an intro!
While I don't see the theme I kinda like the idea. The spawning of the UFOs after you jumped on them feels a bit too random though and that's frustrating. Maybe that's why you have so many comments but not a lot score submissions? Anyway, keep it up! (And next time pls follow the rules - if you don't make your own sounds, you're actually not allowed to submit it as Solo or Team entry.)
@ratrogue Thanks for your feedback! Did you try the story mode (just drop down the hole in the first level). Maybe that's how you missed the connection with the theme. The game was intended to be played this way, the arcade mode with the UFOs is rather a bonus level than a full feature, I am not really willing to compete in the streamers section.
As for the rules, as far as I understand, I am respecting them. If I am wrong, I apologize. I asked it on the "support" section of the discord and the reply I got was that the 3rd party sound effects are fine, but the music needs to be created during the jam. For this reason I removed all the music from the game last minute, but kept the sounds. Otherwise, I would've submitted in the unranked category. I opted out of the sounds category votes too because I believe people who actually create everything from scratch deseve way more recognition than me in this category.
@Yaro Yeah I played the story mode first - I see the connection with the theme, but it's just my personal taste that it should be (for a high Theme rating) much more incorporated into the gameplay. No matter though, theme is not my forte either.
I guess the rules are pretty much open regarding the sounds. Then I can only recommend to try it next time - it's easier than some people expect. ;-)
Just put the medal around my neck! I'm absolutely blown away by @benjamin's score, couldn't make it past 6 myself. Nice game, I enjoyed it and am quite impressed by the animations and all the dialogues, the platforming could have felt nicer though (smaller yeti?) and level design wasn't optimal imho. But props for putting secret Hitler in. :-)
A nice platformer with some interesting ghosts and simple mechanic. I liked the story direction, and it all fit well together, but the highscores section was a bit annoying. You didn't know where the UFOs would spawn, sometimes spawning right on top of you and killing you. Plus, after a period the UFOs would be in a position where it's impossible to jump above them anymore, and jumping off to the left resets your highscore.
But overall it was a decent entry.
Found the tower, tossed it from the ends of the earth, and killed Hitler. Not bad for a day's work.
Nice little funny platformer. I particularly liked the sound effects on the little hint ghosts, and the little pieces of humor you put in throughout the game.
The actual gameplay could be a little bit tighter. As others have mentioned, it was a bit annoying that UFOs could spawn on top of the player, and it wasn't very predictable how they would spawn once defeated. It would be nice if they had some sort of telegraphing (e.g. appearing semi-transparent for half a second before spawning). I think the player controller could be tweaked a little bit as well, perhaps giving faster side-to-side control.
The relation to the theme was cosmetic only, which makes it potentially weaker theme-wise than other games (my entry is in the same boat).
It's neat that you included a story mode and a high score mode, although as others have said, the high score mode could have been designed a little bit more deliberately. That being said, it's a 72 hour jam, and especially for a solo project it's hard to make everything exactly the way you want it in time.
Loved the humor, and I'm proud to report that I killed hitler.
It's a simple plateformer but the level design works fine and the little conspiracies theories really makes the entry different.
For some reasons I found the simple graphics very efficient with the story, it felt just as "cheap" as those ghost theories and added to the humor of it all.
The only thing frustrating is the UFO spawning, as said above, I think they respawn a bit too fast.
Well done, I had a good time :)
Fun meme game ;D
Having read the rules fluently I ran into the right (to arcarde mode as it turned out), and didn't get why the first stage - to pass 5 platforms is so hard :D
Liked the athmospheric in game, but it's pity that sounds was't created but you, it would be even better!
And should notice, game besides other is pretty challending.
Regarding to the theme, it's pretty subtle interpretation of it and a bit unobvious.
Anyway, good job man ;D

Thank you guys for you extensive feedbacks!
Thanks to all the comments I'm getting, I have a better overview of my strengths/weaknesses and my next game will be better thanks to you!
Thank you again for taking your time to play my little game!
I loved the intro, and I'm impressed that you managed to squeeze in two completely different game modes and an easter egg in one game jam. The story mode was cute, but I actually found myself more engaged by the high score mode.
Like many others, I was caught off-guard when I was killed by respawning UFOs- I had to replay that part a few times to understand what happened. However, once I figured it out, I was able to internalize it as just one of the rules of the game- once you've hit a UFO, you need to get out of its column ASAP. (That said, if it is indeed a feature rather than a bug, it should be communicated more clearly.) This actually made for some interesting strategic moments in the high score mode, where I had to carefully plan out the sequence of columns I would need to hit knowing I couldn't hit the same one twice. Of course, due the RNG of where the UFOs respawn, there are times when you can't avoid being trapped with both adjacent UFOs too high to reach, but the possibility of getting lucky and having the UFO you just hit respawn beneath you kept it exciting.
@birdwards, thanks for your extensive feedback! You got it right, the UFO's respawn at a random position vertically, so you need to keep moving. It's rather poorly done because indeed when it spawns in your face, you die without understanding what happened. A good suggestion I got from one of the comments was to not make them dangerous straight away so when you see one spawning, you move away.
I am glad you enjoyed it and figured out the mechanics! :)
/spoiler/ I love the intro and outro. "No connection" indeed, don't believe everything you read Yeti!
I'm sorry to say that the gameplay became a bit tedious for me though, sorry :-( This isn't really helped by the UFO's being really loud in comparison to everything else.
Otherwise the audio is fine though! Adds a lot to the game. Even if you didn't create it yourself, it was still your choice to place those sounds there (but disabling audio rating was the right thing to do!)
It's a neat little package that could be a lot more fun with a few little tweaks (see all the other commenters suggestions).
(/spoiler/ It annoys me a bit that I didn't find out how that flat-earther is hiding the most evil man of the 20th century though … I might go back when my brain feels more up to being awake.)
Edit: Speaking of not being awake, I almost forgot what I think is one of the most important parts of the comment: I got stuck on the 'don't jump on the ghost' screen for so long. Most of it is my own sleep deprived fault, but there you go…
@dorkulon thanks for playing, i'm glad you liked it! ^_^
@remco thank you, your feedback is really great and covers things not covered by the others, like the sounds of UFO and the level that is very hard to beat! Also, it is true that it doesn't make a lot of sense storywise that Hitler is being hidden by a ghost, I never thought of it xD That's a lot of things to improve right there, thank you!

That was nice!
I almost missed the story mode because of this affair of holes, and I got blocked when there was some spikes, but still I spent a good time (well, mainly because of your story, just for that you deserve a 10 stars in originality)
Also, in arcade mode I made 12 points :D
