Piranha Bites

I like that there are 3 mermaids to choose from, they're all very cute :) Wish the game had a little more animation.

Nice little jam game.

It's a nice touch being able to chose our mermaid. The gameplay is simple but works, but I felt like collisions were a tad too big. Well done!

I like the ability to choose your character and the gameplay is addictive. I think the game would look better if some of the sprites animated. Also, personally I think that damaging the player when they touch the edge of the screen is too punishing.

The game is cute but I can't see well the collision the endscreen come maybe a little to fast. You could for exemple stop scroll for 1 second so the player can see where he failed. Also I was unsure about difficulty progression : The scroll speed is always the same so I had the feeling I can play forever.

Nice one! A complete game, fairly challenging (at least for me).

Suggestions for improvement:

• Animations. Even two frames on the mermaid and the piranhas would bring it more to life.
• More forgiving hitboxes. Right now you can die even if all that's colliding is empty space.
• Selecting your mermaid with the arrow keys and space bar or Enter, so that you don't have to grab the mouse each time you perish.
• A more appropriate font would be a really quick way to set the tone a bit better.
• Maybe different gameplay depending on which mermaid you choose? Maybe one has a faster top speed but another has faster acceleration, and the third is in between.

great to see some representation here, the pale blue merfolk are so often ignored in games.

This is a nicely simple game, presented well. I look forward to playing it with my small child, though I expect we'll spend ten minutes trying to decide which mermaid to play as. Nice work!
