A DARK TOWN

Explore a mysterious dark town .. with a dark secret.. in the dark.. in DOS!

This is a classic text adventure, written for MS-DOS. I've bundled DOSBox and a .bat file for Windows users. Some basic instructions and hints in the README.TXT.

It took a while to get into the swing of a text parser adventure, but now I'm hooked. I've died in all manner of ways, explored lots of locations and done some regrettable things; but still victory eludes me. A great entry, and completed in impressively little time. The humour is spot on and the writing sets a decent mood.

The game is well written. Allthough the mechanic feels a bit janky and at times buggy. (Somehow it seemed to choke on any of the various commands i tried to look inside of the piping, but somehow it triggered the spider ending after me moving SOUTH, which lead to the game chaining some dialogs after the initial ending sequence)

Really faithful implementation of older generation text-adventures - could've done with a restart command instead of closing the .exe in the dosbox :D

I really had a lot of fun with this oldschool adventure of darkness, danger and deceit. I liked interacting with the guard, screaming from the top of my lungs, and of course my beloved bucket.

Wish I had your vocabulary!

I can TAKE and EXAMINE but I can't GO, MOVE or WALK? I can't with these games. Nicely written, nice colors. Maybe I'll give it another shot, because the story seemed interesting.

@M2tias you can SOUTH/NORTH/EAST/WEST, for example. I recommend giving it another go!

This is simply a solid text adventure. The fact you can get yourself stuck isn't such a problem imho because the game isn't overly long and allows you to save anywhere in multiple slots. Quite liked the plot twist at the end. Also carrying around a rodent is nice.
