Upgrade a kitty space station!
Upgrade your cat space station by leveling up buildings. Gain Purrrstige based on your Population when you reset the game.
@DaFluffyPotato Since we mixed up the themes in the original announcement video, let's just accept Space Station as an alternative theme ^^
I like the graphics, such as they are. But as it is, it all feels very static.
UI-wise, it would be nice to be able to see at a glance which items you can afford, maybe they would light up or something. Some more "juice" would also not go amiss.
As to balancing: fish and catnip seem to be entirely symmetric. That hurts gameplay, because to improve catnip you need relatively more fish, and vice versa, so there is never any reason to specialize. Also I wasn't sure how the population counter works; right now I'm at 3850 out of 3208 cats? The command center also seems unbalanced; by the time I needed it, it was relatively dirt cheap and I could upgrade it to level 5 right away.
I've never played a clicker game, but having played that - I don't think I'll be in a rush to. Maybe it is just the genre, but for me, it just seemed like numbers went up and I clicked on things to "spend them" but felt nothing really happened when I spent them, other than letting me get more numbers? Which would then let me upgrade again how many numbers I could get? ….
Art was really cool! Couple of sound effects would have made the game more immersive.
cat space station, now that's something I've not seen before :)
I spent some time getting those numbers rolling. The gfx was nice and there seems to be a good logic behind the order and scale of things you can level up. However some more effects and attention-grabbing events would have been welcome - it's a bit static and silent as it is. Even just messages like "10000 cats! well done" etc would have helped.
The speed of the upgrades was ok, but in the end I left it running, did an upgrade, left it running etc - not really paying attention to the game anymore.
Idle clickers, passive experiences, time wasters. Whichever you choose to call these… things… doesn't change anything. There is no decision making. You succeed by waiting. And what is success? You get bigger numbers… How boring is that? For me, very.
Might as well talk about the other things too. The cat station itself is rather purrty. Seing a few cats walking around inside it would be the cherry on top.
The GUI for the upgrades works ok. The cost and effect of the upgrades should be separated though. Currently it says:
Level 1 Fish Tank
Max: 200
Next Level: 2
62 Fish
150 Catnip
Max:800
It should say:
Level 1 Fish Tank
Max Fish: 200
Upgrade Cost:
62 Fish
150 Catnip
Upgrade effect:
Max Fish: 800
The difference between farm and booster is also rather vague. I guess they both do the very same thing?
The Purrrstige menu is another thing altogether. Took a while to realize how it works. I reset with more than 1000 cats, but nothing changed. It does not tell my purrrstige level anywhere. Apparently I'm supposed to choose an upgrade after resetting… It is not a clear or intuitive design. It should tell me how much purrrstige I have and how much more I'm going to get by resetting now.
Not a fan. Looks ok, it is not broken and I do like the cat station idea, so some points for those.
O 3, G 8, A -, G 1, O 5, T 1
Cute graphics! I included it in my Alakajam #1 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/fRBZG2NbaE8
This seems to be a standard clicker game. The art is okay, but it could use some audio. It seems like you thought the theme was space station. @wan announced the wrong theme and corrected it later to alchemy.
