The Mountain Pear (やまなし)

A non-game based on a Japanese child story

Based on The Mountain Pear (やまなし), a Japanese child story by Kenji Miyazawa. You (crabs) try to touch the mountain pear as much as possible while avoiding a kingfisher.

Sadly, the game isn't really playable yet. I only put up the characters to show the overall atmosphere, and I ran out of time. I might finish it sometimes later.

Nice pixel art. Reminds me of a lot of those early 90's screensavers.

It's as if you can see the exact moment you ran out of time: You where finished with the second pass on the fishes, and was working on detailing the pear. The crabs would have been next to get more texture.

Cool artwork. Its unfortunate that you couldn't finish it. As a tip for making games, you should usually test a concept or idea by using simple shapes for the art and focus on creating the core mechanics.

Art is kind of charming, are you planning on making it a full game at any point? I'm sure it would be fun.

Interesting. Now I wonder what this story is about, because it sounds kind of random :)
