It plays well and immediately clicks with what you'd expect from a roguelike, so you have built a great base here. What this game needs now is more visual fidelity and better sound design. It just doesn't build up the atmosphere needed for immersion and since these kinds of roguelikes usually aren't realistic in their art style, it really needs a very cohesive and solid theme that carries the gameplay. The current sounds are painful and needn't be. So much you can do to make it interesting. The changes you made in the sequel to this one are definitely going in the right direction! Well done.

@Odrez Thanks for playing and trying the sequel also. Interesting feedback, not exactly sure what you mean by visual fidelity? There are some assets that were very quickly done and sort of placeholder that I never found time to redo (and I'm not great at pixel art anyway) so maybe better pixel art, or maybe not pixel art? I was actually sort of wondering how it would look as 3d with low poly or voxel art, being turn and tile based you could maybe get away without much animation so maybe it would be work well. No arguments about the sound design, apologies for the quick and dirty but also sort of painful bfxr sounds, I should have at least lowered the volume of them, I always want to break out the mic spend more time on SFX but when time runs low its the first thing to get cut.

Quite liked this one. The turn based movement and combat gives it a tactical feel, while the hunger bar encourages quick thinking and route memorisation. I do think the game could have used some more items and mechanics though, it can begin to feel somewhat repetitive towards the end. Overall though a good game, nice job!

I like the setting. Finding upgraded gear was nice too. The combat was just luck based and thus it felt a little unfair when I died. Cool background ambient track - really adds to the atmosphere!
Movement itself was quite tedious. I did try your sequel and it seems you made it faster there.
