Pop Statio aesthetics do feel like cheating, but for my first 2D game this seems to be coming out ok

First jam, and first time challenging myself with something a lot of you might think is basic. Haha
I'm more of an illustrator than someone who codes, but I'm just as passionate about coding as I am with art.

Got my concept, it's … a sort of childrens-book pseudo-screensaver thingy where you swipe to (indirectly) control falling leaves through the power of wind. The leaves are a message from Autnum to Winter, that ask to save us from Summer.

First Winter was going to be the most dangerous part of the game but then I found out it'll be 25 ~ 27 degrees Celcius outside today. Mid-Oktober. In the Netherlands.

In completely unrelated news (read: totally related), I've decided to go for the Unranked catagory, also to give myself a little more time to learn GameMaker (Yes, learning engines before gamejams would be sensible, but apearantly I'm not) and give the game the juice it clearly needs (much will depend on the visuals).

Also also, there are some chores planned for monday that occupy a too large a slice of my attention span. Doing them now will free up valuable mind-real-estate (mind-estate?).

Also^3, maybe it's time to get off chasing the high of attempting a good ranking in these type of jams. There is so much left undone when I try to release 'on time', just to get into the '2 day' version of things. Maybe I can pick that up another time.

So, has anyone else (already) decided to go for Unranked? If so, why?

I don't have a clue how to make music, are we allowed to use 3rd party music that's available for free?

As expected, a good chunk of the community is made of people who define themselves as programmers. While this was expected - and especially makes sense for the solo category, it's really something we could work to improve in the future, to add more diversity and help teams get made. How? That's a question worth thinking about! Ideas welcome.

While 3D graphics appear as a clear first place, if you regroup Pixel art + Other 2D into a single category it's actually a perfect tie!

I'm making a Space Harrier clone about falling from grace :D
The story is that God sends Lucifer for a black ops mission and he has to disown him eventually.
Maybe it ends up being just an endless shooter if I don't have time to make enough levels and stuff.

Hey! Just waned ot make a post so say I won't be in this one but I'll try to be around when games are finished :)

I've been quite out of the loop for a while (with new work) and I had already chosen a week-long and more chill jam for this weekend.

As usual, FluffyPotato already has a finished game when I would start working lol.
