Thinking... 3

So… I've been thinking about using Pico-8 to make my game.
Is there anyone that's used it before? I wanna know if it's worth buying.

I've been messing around with Pico-8 for that past month and it's really run. I'll be using it to do my Alakajam game. Just know that the size of your game will be limited unless you want to mess around with multiple carts.

A good recourse to get started if you do grab Pico-8 is the Pico-8 zines, you can download them for free and they have good tutorials and examples.

I found Pico-8 super fun to work with. WIth some practice it can be a pretty productive tool for jams I think, especially since it embeds everything including sprite editing & music making. If you're curious, TIC-80 & Liko12 are open source alternatives, I haven't tested them yet but they're probably at least a good way to see if fantasy consoles are your cup of tea.

I like PICO-8. I've only really made one game that used all the space/resources available, but also participated in two 16-in-1 cartridges which were really fun. Really challenges your use of space/resources!
