If you could rate games based on how hilarious they are, you'd get 10 stars, right now.

When I started the game I wanted to know why someone would go through the trouble of ripping off the intro of an obscure game like Battle Mania 2. Then I got to the actual game and realized that was the least of questions I had.

This is one of the juciest games I have ever seen, which is fitting because its about tomatoes and carrots.

I don't even know where to begin, so I'll get it out of the way upfront that I was disappointed that all of that buildup and style just led to a whack-a-mole style game. While everything around the actual gameplay itself was weird and original and crazy, the gameplay felt a bit lacking.

With that out of the way, that was really funny. My eyes were hurting before I even launched the game, just from your itch.io page, but in a good way. I appreciate offering an option to skip the intro, but I'm really glad I didn't. I too would get really tired after making a game like this because I'm really tired just from playing.

Also, I like your use of the theme, but that doesn't mean that I'm going to rate you high for it.

Great job. Keep doing you. Im going to go get a V8.

@GanbareGames you got the reference. I didn't think that was gonna happen. My job here is done, thank you very much sir.

so much of this is so good. incredible intro. intelligent dialogue. excellent culinary advice. even the actual gameplay manages to be fun thanks to judicious application of feedback, though it was annoying that carrots became invulnerable when descending, even when still visible. still, this is the single fault with an otherwise perfect game. I'm sorry you didn't get to finish, but I fail to see what you could possibly have done to improve on this and you'd only have made it worse somehow, so lets all be happy about that.

Also, did you produce all this music during the jam? I'd be impressed with that itself, without the game on top.

Honestly I enjoyed this so much that I regret playing it so early, it's going to skew the grading curve of the other entries I play :(

Thanks for the comments so far C:

@voxel Yeah, I produced everything during the jam! I used Beepbox to do it - so it was very quick and easy. I know literally nothing about making music, so what I do everytime is just throw random notes till it sounds minimally acceptable, at least to my ears.

also, criminal ketchup

You know how something can get so bad that it's good? This is just that. Maybe we do need a "Humor" category, like Ludum Dare has. Right now I'm torn between rating 10 stars on Originality just for the insanity, and something around 4 for making a whack-a-mole game. I guess I'll put the 10 and ding you on Gameplay instead :P

And when I said "bad" I didn't even mean bad, really. There's catchy music and non-annoying (though hilarious) sound effects and LOTS of juice and polish, it just feels amazing. And even the MS Paint style graphics are effective.

Could you add a fullscreen option at the start? That would make especially the intro even better. I'd consider this an acceptable post-compo change.

You really have a knack for creating these small, funny, wonderfully campy adventures full of strange beings and activities. Yet, I have to dish out the same criticism as before, the interactivity design is laughable (in a bad way) .

Whack-a-carrot! Surely you could have come up with anything else, for instance something to do with carrots and tomatoes! Peel the carrots, make cake out of them, throw kamikaze tomatoes at them… The possibilities are endless!

The audio-visuals are just on the right side of bad and as mild consolation the whacking is at least very juicy, or vegetably, whatever…

Disappointed in the design. It drags the ratings down quite a lot.
