My name is John, I'm 32 and I'm a technical artist who graduated from Western Iowa Tech in 2018. I primarily use Maya and Photoshop for art and UE4/C++ to create games. For pixel art I use both Aseprite and Graphics Gale. I consider myself more of a programmer than artist but I'm able to do both when necessary! I'm working a full time job and supporting my wife while she goes back to school, but I'm always trying to learn more in my free time and would love to work on any projects people have going on, time permitting.
Most influential games for me (design-wise): Dark Souls, Quake, Super Metroid, Doom, Castlevania III.
Tools: UE4, Visual Studio, Photoshop, Maya, Substance Painter, Aseprite, Graphics Gale.
Languages: C++, Python (beginner)

I participated in the last Alakajam as well, and while things didn't turn out quite how I wanted I learned a lot and continued to learn in the meantime. Hopefully things go even better this time!

I didn't achieve everything I set out to make, had to make a lot of cuts and the game is much shorter than I intended, but ultimately I learned quite a bit and got a finished, working game out in two days so I'm happy with the results!

Hey everyone! I'm excited for my first post-college game jam. I get to shake off the rust from moving and really get to work on making something fun. This is gonna be a solo jam for me. Can't wait to see what everyone makes!
