Skill based FPS with throwing knives.
This is our Alakajam entry, we were aiming to submit under Ranked Team but unfortunately bit off slightly more than we could chew and had to miss the dead line by a few (or more) hours. It's an FPS where the aim of the game is to kill enemies in skillful ways using a throwing knife to level up your progression which was initially meant to give you access to a skill tree full of different abilities that was "Always Growing", due to time constraints we had to cut it a bit short and now the things that are always growing is amount of enemies and ridiculousness. We included mouse sensitivity options by the way, for those of you that care.
All assets were made from scratch for the jam.
Thanks for looking!
KNOWN BUG: Sometimes you can get the game in a state where you don't die and can no longer throw knives, you will need to restart the game to fix it. It generally happens from Alt Tabbing and hitting Escape randomly.
I really like the game!
I found out that at around level 12 the game starts to lag and becomes hard to play because of the lag at level 17 (it's to be expected in a type of game like this one). The XP text you get from killing someone is nicely done and makes is really fun the sound is great as well.
I did get the bug you stated did happen during that playtrough and i ended up becoming a computer breaking level 60 with like a million guys around me trying to kill me even though i became immoral and being spammed with friendly fire text hahaha.
It's a fun game though i wish that pushing escape would pause the game and not take you straight back to the main menu.

Very fun and enjoyable! You and @Akselmo are really inspiring me to make an FPS with Probuilder.
The knives felt very good, but a little mindless with so few restrictions on throwing. Maybe if you had a limited number and could pick them up after throwing or something like that. I did like the enemy variety quite a bit, especially the ones with boy armor which really made you mix up your strategy.
It feels like when you let go of the movement keys, the character still has a good amount of momentum which didn't really feel right, especially when you are trying to line up sick throws.
Great job!
Quite fun and gets hectic pretty quickly. I liked getting bonuses for headshots and killing streaks, which encouraged me to play better. Movement was annoying at first but I quickly got used to it. Still, giving the player more "traction" wouldn't have gone amiss. The enemy variety worked well and they managed to chase me down pretty well (for the most part, there were one or two areas where they couldn't reach). Overall pretty good game, shame you couldn't add everything you wanted,
I'm not fond of the shooter genre in general, but this came as a positive surprise. I made it to level 8, which is probably horrible. With the fast movement and open map, it reminded me of the likes of Quake III. The fact that your knives move slowly more or less requires that you make your enemies stand still, which means waiting for them to attack, and risk getting hurt.
Graphics are simple, but consistent and readable. Very effective.
Sound effects are rather jarring, and the lo-fi bit crush style really doesn't fit in well with the rest of the game.
Overall, great job!
A pretty fun take on FPSes, which while it doesn't have any groundbreaking mechanics is still engaging to play. Just having fun shooting dozens of these strange enemies with realistic animations and cartoon faces (brilliant idea!) is enough to keep me playing. Learning the curve knifes follow when thrown, in order to shoot from super far is also quite satisfying.
It seems like the enemy model and its animations are made completely from scratch, which is an underrated achievement: from what I could see it is well rigged, animations are well polished and flow well. Between that, the large and complex ProBuilder level and that nice, colorful combo system/headshot detection etc. it only makes sense you could not at enough features to make it a more complete game.
For some reason watching an increasing number of people watch me from the roof of a remote building was hilarious. Made me think of the final battle in Matrix 3.
My best score is Level 18!
That's a lot of fun. I would definitely like to see a full version of this, because based on how much character you have managed to put into the enemies, their facial expressions and expressive animations, I'm convinced that you could create something special.
The bad points of the game as it is are the weird slidey feel to the character controller, and the slow movement speed, the lack of environment art, and the lack of variety or progression that you noted yourself.
Actually I must say that despite the lack of art for the level, the design of it is satisfyingly complex.
Good job overall, very fun game that I hope to see more of in the future.
I love it even if i dont see the theme 'always growing' i just could not stop my self from replaying it over and over pls keep working on it !
