Fungi gathering simulator

Gather a selection of delicious (or not) mushrooms in a foggy fall forest.

Description :

The game's name says all you have to know. Go gather some shrooms in a (smal) fall forest.

Controls :

Move : wasd and directional arrow.
Collect a shroom : e.
Open the note book : q or i.
Quit the game : ALT+F4 (simple spell but quite unbreakable) or the quit button in the notebook (there is no confirm window).

Installation :

Go to the drive (via the link), download the .rar and extract it, that's all.

Known issues :

  • Two polygon on one of the tree models have the wrong texture.
  • Camera bug when you open the notebook (just close it, move and open it again).
  • You walk on some bushes (it's just a collider problem but I prefer thinking that I have magic power).
  • Typo error (I checked but I'm sure I missed some).
If you encouter some bug, feel free to share them (especially if they're funny).

Possibles improvement :

  • Optimisation (actually the game is kinda heavy on polygon).
  • Sound design.
  • More models.
  • Better textures.
  • A mecanic where you have to recongnize what you gathered using a compendium instead of instantly knowing what you collected.
  • More shrooms.
  • More biomes and season.
  • More infos about the shrooms.
  • And many more things (feel free to give ideas in comment).

Softwares :

  • Unity 2019.3 as game engine.
  • Visual studio as IDE
  • Blender 3 for the models.
  • Photoshop CS 6 for all the 2d stuff (sprite, texture, UI…).
  • Google font for well you know, font.
  • Normal map online for… normal map.

Sources :

I used some photos or illustration for the shrooms illustration in the notebook and one of the ground texture. I do not own them. You can see the asset and the derivated ones I did on the drive in the "Derivated assets" folder and here are the links of where I found them, as well as the font I used :

I don't know if I will work on this project later but I'm open to feedback. Have fun and have a good day/night/whatever.

Heya.
I played your game in my stream. It was quite the speed run I'd say.
if you could reduce the walking speed, it would feel more like a pleasent stroll through the woods.
Now it felt like running. xD
I also did not find the last mushroom :(
Here you can see my "walk through"…

Great Entry!
I like the idea of a more relaxed mushroom collection game. The notebook was a nice idea and the texts seem to be very well written. Also the mushroom models looked quite well done and the overall world was also well designed.

As mentioned, the movement and mouse speed felt quite fast to me. The biggest thing would be to add some relaxing music. But other than that, great entry!

Doom guy picking up mushrooms at 600mu/s :D it was quite relaxing :) although I'd prefer more foliage and slower pace for this kind of game.
