Making some progress
I'm writing a lot of boilerplate code right now, haven't really tested any gameplay yet. Normally I can get my boilerplate code out of the way much faster but this jam is making me realize that I really need to make all of this boielrplate code into a tiny game engine for future jams.
I reached my goal for today with ~2 hours of extra time!
I will be streaming my development tomorrow, swing by if you wanna hangout!

Couldn't finish my engine in time (maybe 2 weeks isn't enough time), and I'm pretty sure I have something on this weekend.
Good luck to everyone competing, hope to prepare in time for the next event. (When will that be?)
Pretty much what it says up in the title! I've managed to put together something, although I still don't know if I'll be able to make it on time… tick tock tick tock.
The idea behind it is simple enough: You can collect powerups over and over and over, there's no limit to how many you can stack together: You have no max health, for example. (Always growing)
Let's hope it turns out alright!

Yes, I just got fresh and everything is happening according to my planned schedule. I got enough sleep and I feel energetic enough for the upcoming 6 hour work period on the game. Thx.
Well it seems my poll is saying people want to see a school simulator built during a game jam. To which I wish myself good luck. It might need to be unranked but I'll do my best to let you build an isometric school.
Meanwhile here's the first screenshots of version 2 of my engine!
Here's one with fog of war enabled and me having line of sight of the natural environment units:
Just about to start on textures for buildings and a few more bits of sprite art.
I had hoped that this theme wouldn't win. The only things I could come up with for it seemed unnoriginal and far out of my scope, but after wasting some time on that idea, I came up with something that I quite like. I was hoping to get most of the systems for it done tonight but seeing as I'm too tired to do the math properly at the moment I've decided its best to do my best to finish the UI and do what I can with the mechanics. Since I doubt I'll have it in a state that I can show here before tomorrow, I'll try to get an early start then in the hopes that I can actually finish this game.
