StackYourTower

build a beautiful tower

Hey everyone!
My entry is programmed after the game "Stack". All you have to do is click on the screen with the mouse to stack your tiles and build a beautiful tower. There are 3 levels with increasing movement speed of the tiles.

Tools: Unity // Gimp / Kryta / Paint // Audacity // Beepbox.co // Freesound.org // A big thanks you to elZach, who helped me with the programming!

Loved the idea of each layer getting cut off each time as the tower gets smaller, exellently executed, love the simple visuals, and the audio was exellent too, and creative. Great job!

Neat mechanic, definitely has that "one more go" factor. Minimalistic visuals pulled off well, very clean aesthetic. Sounds fit the minimalist vibe, though aren't outstanding.
Could easily lend itself to an infinite mode, and would work very well as a mobile game.

game plays well. I would have liked to see something distiquish it from the "stack" tutorials I have seen.

Nice classic game, maybe the game could have some more mechanics or, for example, powerups, to add a bit more flavor and distinguish it from the original stacking game. I liked it, and it was challinging and smooth to play.

I think you didn't detach yourself enough from the original game. I feel like I'm playing the same game, I wish you'd put more of yourself into the game. I'm sorry, I can't give the game a good score, out of respect for those who produced original content.

What can I say? Everything is fine apart from the elephant in the room. Where's the originality?

How about:

  • A variety of movement patterns (sine, smooth in-out, etc.) rather than just the current linear movement?
  • Waves of multiple tiles in rapid succession?
  • Matching the tiles to music?
  • Rotating tiles?
  • Anything to mix things up!

It's a very straight-up clone of an existing game, so I'm rating a 1 on Originality and adjusting the Overall score downwards accordingly. That said, it's decently implemented, and good for a few minutes of fun.
