Agreed on the feedback for hitting aliens / getting hit! Nice gameplay I would argue, and it fits the theme pretty well! Not bad at all! Specially if this really was your first ever game jam! Congratulations!
I particularly liked the particles when you defeat an alien.
Extra note: I saw you commented on my game that you liked the quantity of stars in the background. I agree that yours has a lot of stars, but that's not necessarily bad! I think it would already make a world of a difference if the repeating pattern wasn't so obvious. Another thing you should consider is not using pure black/white, or you could also vary the intensity of the stars:
Hope this comment is helpful!
Very simple shooter. Hoping between planets is fun.
I think if the bullets wouldn't show through planets, that would be a big improvements.
Also it may be performance related, but on my setup (windows + chrome) the audio frequently cut out when shooting happened, which is a bummer, because from what I could hear between the pauses the track sounded pretty neat.
A solid entry!
I suck at these kinds of games, but that's not the game's fault. Motion feels good, including the jumping. The difficulty progression felt fair enough. Some more "juice" when shooting would be appreciated; right now, it's not always entirely clear whether I'm hitting the target, nor whether I'm being hit.
The music is awesome, and very fitting for an arcade game like this. Sound effects are functional, but could have been better.

I liked the graphics and audio a lot! The shooting mechanic was a bit confusing for me, I wasn't entirely sure if I was shooting the aliens or not (and if the aliens were shooting back) or just aiming. Having some visual of shots being fired might help.
