Gribbly War (again)

Fro two players on the one keyboard (arrows+CTRL vs WASD+B) Get more gribblies home than your opponent

A simple web remake of a game I made for Ludum Dare #6,

Very simple score display and no restart, getting a bit tired .

There is a light ship and a dark ship. The light ship flies in the dark universe, the dark ship flies in the light universe.

Each player has gribblies trying to get home, Shoot to make pathways to help yuur gribblies and crush the enemy gribblies.

This game lacks a tutorial, there isn't even text about how to play in the game description… The ships could also be more clear where they are, maybe have a bright shine around them untill you move… I also still don't know yet how to shoot, would play again if I knew the controls, but if I can't play it, I can't rate it, sorry :|

An interesting design, especially with the ships moving in different, colored parts of the map. I would have liked to play this with a friend, but…

A few issues cropped up:

  • Control + W closes the tab, which completely renders this unplayable.
  • Pressing down B ends in rapid fire, giving the blue player a massive advantage.
  • The map is very large and the camera is zoomed out too much to comfortably see what is going on.

No score due to these problems.

Too bad this game is multiplayer only. But I can see this working. A single player option, online multiplayer or simple bot/AI would have been cool. To get more play out of it.

Good points: original gameplay. Great twist on the theme. Still I feel the game has a lot of rough edges, in particular when it comes to the UI and readability of the game.

Basically, I feel this game has potential, but needs polish: clear instructions, clear indication of "home", feedback for succes, better visibility for the ships.

I think that once things get moving the game is really slick visually, the zoom, the contrast. All really good. Just hard on the controls and first-read. Great stuff!
