Back in the action, with some indie piano rock! (Postmortem) 0

dorkulon • 6 years ago on 2nd Alakajam! entry  Disappainted: Master of the Invisibrush

This is my first jam in a long, long time and it's been such a blast! Over the years, I've mostly been doing random volunteer work as a jam organizer or general-helper-outer, so this was a very welcome change of pace.

Together with @treslapin on art and @cloakedninjas on code, we made Disappainted: Master of the Invisibrush. Be sure to check out the game!

This time around, my main contribution was a indeed song I made for our game, which is now up on Soundcloud for free download, here. It's inspired by the anime Yuri On Ice, and Scottish band Mogwai.

With the full version completed, I ended up taking chunks of the song to use around the game; a bit for the main menu, another for in-game, and a third for the results screen. The full version of the song builds up to a massive climax, which was a bit much for the game, so be sure to check out the Soundcloud version too! :3

Besides the one play button sound effect lifted from the soundtrack, I sourced lots of little sounds from freesound.org to make some basic SFX for the game.

Making Disappainted: Master of the Invisibrush was super rewarding. Beyond just being fun, it was an opportunity to learn to use Ableton Live and the Push 2, both of which are new to me. I also followed a really helpful tutorial to do my first proper (proper = "any kind of" in this instance) Mastering for the music.

Let me know what you think of our game and the music! Can't wait to do this again!

Munch Uprising Finished! 0

NRathbone • 6 years ago on 2nd Alakajam! entry  Munch Uprising

Munch Uprising is mine and @horizontale's entry for the 2nd Alakajam! The game features a nice soundtrack composed over the weekend by horiziontale, incluing a title theme and two separate level tracks that change based on the world you're in! I wasn't able to put in as much as I wanted to, but as this was both of our's first game jam, I'm pretty happy with what we came up with!

More like experimental concept than full game.
There was many ideas but most of them was removed from todo list. Maybe next time.
Feel free to download, play and enjoy dark blind adventure through 10 mazes. (Walkthrough included)

Don't forget to put on your headphones!

Finished publishing too fast... again 2

Anyone else have the same "problem"? I seem to always over estimate how much time all the publishing bits (screenshots, gameplay video, all the builds, writing descriptions etc) take. Happened to me on the last GGJ as well so I spent the last hour running around the site annoying others desperately trying to finish/publish their game.

Well, at least this time I did manage to end up with a game I'm quite happy with. Nothing major I'd like to add or fix, and pretty much nothing had to be scrapped due to lack of time.

As the title states progress was made and here's the report.

Music, a bit of tutorializing and some tweaking are needed. Other than that this here deal is pretty much done there already.

First version published! :) 4

I just published my entry. Maybe i'll tweak some things, but it should be playable now.
Please tell me what you think, or if you find something buggy or confusing!

This has been a great experience, i'll be participating in more jams.

Good luck to those who are finishing their entries!

Hey! I've submited the windows version on my game! Haha

Yet, I am new on this so am having some trouble adding images to the description, for the images am trying to use my google drive, also having little trouble in uploading my unity WebGL in Kongregate, thanks for the help in forehand.
